In this module, we will take an in-depth look at the topics of sustainable digitalisation and AI. With input from within and outside the Helmholtz Association, we will discuss how technologies influence our environment and society, whether they act as saviours or archenemies of the Earth and how digitalisation can help to promote sustainability and protect the environment.

In this module, we will look at the topic of "Sustainable capacity building in the field of AI". We will present the HIDA-KI course portfolio as well as the overarching embedding and approach of the Helmholtz Association with regard to topics such as AI in administration. This module is supplemented by a best practice example from the DZNE with the presentation of the pilot project "AI Initiative in Administration". Further practical applications of AI will also be introduced by the companies WeShyft and Dunia Innovations in this module.  

In this module, we will look at the topic of cyber security and focus on the interface between technology, politics and society. An experienced cybersecurity expert will share her experiences and insights from the industry. We will address questions and possible examples from the centres on how technology and its innovations can be used ethically and responsibly to ensure the security of our digital infrastructure.

In this module, we will look at how the synergy between digitalisation and employees can work in an organisation. We will also look at how digitalisation influences the work of employees and how organisations can use the opportunities and challenges of digitalisation to improve collaboration between people and technology.

In this module, we will address the topic of AI as a governance issue and focus on the question of how to conduct sustainable research. Experts from the Helmholtz Open Science Working Group will share their experiences and insights from the industry. A DLR employee will present the current status of the DLR digitisation strategy, including the existing framework conditions. Other best practices from the community will show how central building blocks in the area of governance, for example in the form of process optimisation and strategies, enable more sustainable work.  

In this module, we will look at the social and ethical aspects of AI and digitalisation and discuss how AI and digitalisation affect society. We will hear from IDG Network Germany, GAIA and ESGBot, who will share their experiences and insights on the social aspects of AI and digitalisation, complemented by appropriate contributions from the centres on how we can look at, understand and shape the opportunities and challenges of AI and digitalisation in society in more depth.
